Associated Scaffolding is an accredited training center by the Scaffolding and Access Industry Association (SAIA). We are not owned or directed by any equipment manufacturer, so our focus is on your training, not selling products. We offer courses at our training centers across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee. We also offer training courses at customer facilities. All classes are led by experienced authorized instructors.
What is a Competent Person?
“Competent Person” means one who is capable of identifying existing hazards in their surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary or dangerous to employees. A Competent Person has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate these conditions.
How do you become a Competent Person?
A person can become a Competent Person by way of training and/or experience. A competent person must be knowledgeable of applicable standards, is capable of identifying workplace hazards relating to the specific operation, and has the authority to correct them. Competent persons can only be designated by their employer.

If the class you need is not scheduled, doesn’t fit your available time, or is not in your area, contact our training department. We can schedule a class just for your team at one of our training centers in NC, SC, VA and TN or even have the class at a location of your choice. Currently, all classes are available in English only.
Scaffold & Access Industry Association (SAIA) Courses
No matter which course you choose, they both have authorized instructors from Accredited Training Institutes (ATIs) who use materials developed by experts within the scaffold and access industry. This ensures that you receive the highest level of training possible. Upon successful completion SAIA will issue you a pocket identification card and a signed certificate.
